Are you kidding me……. 2 years of a pandemic/ lockdown & the comeback is LOW RISE!!! If that doesn’t make you want to throw on your workout gear and start your stomach crunches I don’t know what will.
Personally as much as I loved it first time round this is one trend I don’t think I’ll be participating in this year. My hips haven’t seen the light of day since 2010.
It’s all down to TikTok trends Y2K fashion is back. I had to Google y2k ~ here’s the definition if your a dinosaur like me….. Y2K is the shorthand term for “the year 2000.” Y2K was commonly used to refer to a widespread computer programming shortcut that was expected to cause extensive havoc as the year changed from 1999 to 2000.
EBay & thrift store Thredup have confirmed a rise of 50% searches on low rise. Designers are loving it, calling it fresh & exciting we’ve had high rise styles for nearly a decade now. The style has changed, a bit no more thong baring backsides or barley there zips. It’s more of a baggier style – I’m picturing the 90’s Appleton sisters from all saints in their loose fitting cargo trousers AND ALREADY I’m styling this up in my head with a gorgeous white lined shirt!!! Oh god why have a stuffed my face for the past 2 years.
Like the naughties I will be leaving this one for the ladies & gents in there late teen early twenties to enjoy….. go out there show off that sassy midriff. I’m now in my forties and my middle age spread will be where it should be tucked up in my high rise jeans….
