The weather is heating up and with Summer just round the corner I’m seeing at lot of the latest trend on Instagram & in magazine’s, yes I still read them! The trend I want to chat about is the Short Suit. Short suits have came back on trend every decade dating as far back as my favorite, the 80’s. I wa an eighties child and loved it. The power ballads, the films – Top Gun, Dirty Dancing, Flashdance, the fashion – shoulder pads, stiletto heels. It was the best.
Best get back to the post …….. Tailored shorts paired with a blazer is right up my street. I love a classic look, chic and stylish. Keeping it chic with a crisp white shirt for the office or a beautiful silk cami for nights out.
There’s some great choices on the online at the moment, I’m heading in to Glasgow this week so I will also be checking out the high street too.
Here are some of my favourites
And a few high end – a girl can dream right………
Will you be investing in the short suit this season? Let me know in the comments below.
Hey everyone, I want to get back basics, wardrobe basics that is. The staple pieces that I would advise you all to have in your wardrobe – if you don’t already. Pieces that never go out of fashion, the classic, effortless just put together look that makes you look & feel super chic!
Kick starting this series off with the camel coat – It looks amazing with an all black outfit or even cream! Worn with chunky knits in the chillier months is one of my favorite looks.
This coat comes in all different shapes and sizes, belted, double breasted, single breasted it really doesn’t matter. It’s your personal preference and what suits your style.
After searching around I have found a few reasonably priced ones to share with you. I really like the structure of this one from missguided and this double breasted one from River Island is on sale. Currently I have this one for my day to day and my best purchase of 2017 was my Jaeger camel coat down from £400 to £100. It was an absolute steal in the January sales last year. Unfortunately I don’t have a photograph of me wearing it (yet!)
I’ve linked a few different options down below
If you don’t already have a camel coat and your on the look out for one, I hope this post helped a bit.
Easier said than done right……Who cares right?? I do. I have big issues with this. As someone who loves fashion, I dreamed of starting my blog for so long but how could I write a fashion blog when I couldn’t post a photo of myself. Looking back though my personal Instagram the grid was photo’s of my dogs (naturally) my husband and places we’ve visited. No photo’s of me. I do have a few outfit post now !!
So I threw myself completely out of my comfort zone and booked at shoot with Rachel from Rachel Ross Photography who I can’t recommend enough. She put me at ease straight away, she was confident and new how to direct the shoot with an amateur like me. I’m usually working in the back ground if we are having shoots with TBF. And the location – Glasgow City centre, there I was standing in the street, passers by, some giving a strange look, others a wee bit of encouragement with a friendly smile but you know what…….. after the first half hour they became invisible and the only person I saw was Rachel.
Jacket and Shirt Dorothy Perkins. Bag Guess. Jeans Next. Sunglasses Victoria Beckham. Boots Sosander.
My wee neighbour passed away recently in her sleep on 99th birthday, her advise for a long happy life was – give it everything, just give it your best. If you want it enough – you will work hard enough for it. She used to tell me that in my visits.
I’m going to do exactly that! You only get one shot at this………….make it a good un and don’t be put off by others.
Do I want them yes, do I need them no!
The struggle of an online shopaholic ………. It’s usually early in the morning, I’m browsing my phone having a cup of tea with Gunners big head usually resting on my lap.
I check my emails & then instagram and boom ~ there they are, Marlene check out this dress, wow look at these shoes, you need another coat to add to your never ending collection – most of which are a size to small but I can’t part with – I’ll get into them one day 😉 the worse one, a £20 cup that my fav blogger uses, it is beautiful mind you but you see the pattern developing.
The moral of this story is I’m a sucker, adverts sook me right in and before you know it I’ve signed into my trusty PayPal & Bobs you Uncle, a wee gift, “to me, lots of love me” Every week I start off – no purchases this week Marlene, you can do it, have some will power my girl, you managed to stop smoking for goodness sake so stop buying! It can’t be that hard you think but believe me it is. It’s up there with trying to loose that 2 stone I gained when I stopped smoking!
I want to get my teeth fixed & I don’t think it’s going to be cheap so I need to stop the impulse buying. I just need to think of this before beautiful items pop in to my add to cart!
If you follow me on Instagram or meet me in the street and I’m rocking a pair of beautiful pink brogues with a splash of leopard print, you will probably notice my trademark wonky tooth!
Love Marlene x
It’s the first day of May, I’m sitting at my desk writing this with a woolly cardi over my shoulders, glamorous eh! Come on Sunshine……
The embroidery trend is here to stay for another season and I’m glad, we’ve seen it on shirts, jackets, bags and even shoes but my favourite is on denim. Paired with a classic white tailored shirt, a plain blazer and heels. You just can’t go wrong.
Here are some of my favourites from www.tallulahbellefashion.com excellent quality and a great price of £28
And for when the sunshine finally arrives!
What do you think of the embroidery trend, what pieces do you have? Let me know
